Afghan Kilim—Tabaan
This is an Afghan Balouch Soufreh or 'Eating Cloth' was traditionally used on the floor as a table cloth on which plates of food were placed.
Today, they make wonderful wall-hangings, however equally can be used as a floor rug. The square shape makes the soufreh a very versatile kilim.
This particular Soufreh is a Balouch Soufreh from SouthWest Afghanistan. Multiple borders with intricate detailing. In excellent condition and was likely a dowry piece so have never been used. This is a very fine example of a Soufreh as it has been woven intricately with beautful crisp design and incredible detailing. A very beautiful piece.
